Our public water system, PWSID CT0770021, recently violated drinking water monitoring and/or reporting requirements. As a supplier of public water, we are required to monitor the quality of our water supply to ensure that it meets the current drinking water standards. Failure to conduct monitoring and/or report results of such monitoring to the State Department of Public Health Drinking Water Section constitutes a violation. Although this incident was not an emergency, as customers of the Manchester Water Department, you have a right to know what happened and what we did to correct this situation.
We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. We did not complete the monitoring or did not report the results for the requirements listed below:
Total Alkalinity (WSF ID: 2125; Monitoring Period: November 1, 2024—November 30, 2024)
Total Organic Carbon (WSF ID:2125; Monitoring Period: November 1, 2024– November 30, 2024)
Total Organic Carbon (WSF ID 135; Monitoring Period: November 1– November 30, 2024)

MBAS—Foaming Agents (surfactants) (WSF ID 2125; Monitoring Period; January 1, 2024– December 31, 2024)

What is being done?
The following areas have been affected: Manchester Water Department Service Area
The following steps have been taken to correct these violations:
· Monthly testing resumed December of 2024, annual testing resumed March of 2025.
· Testing performed in the immediate time periods before and after the periods listed met all required standards.
We can expect to return to compliance or resolve the situation by:
· Monthly sampling resumed in December, 2024.
· Annual sampling was conducted in December of 2023 and March of 2025; this testing did not reveal any irregularities.
· The treated drinking water in our system tested negative for both E. coli and total coliforms during this time period.
