General Project Information

The Town of Manchester Department of Public Works, Engineering Division proposes work under this contract that includes the replacement of approximately 5,000 linear feet of water main and 4,600 linear feet of sanitary sewer main in the Chestnut Street-area and the Linden Street-area neighborhoods, in the Town of Manchester. It includes other appurtenant work such as installation of water services, fire hydrants, private sanitary sewer laterals, abandonment of existing sanitary and water utilities, minor storm drainage improvements, installation of extruded concrete curb, minor sidewalk restoration, surface restoration and traffic control.

The Town owned streets within the project work area include: Chestnut Street (north of Laurel Street), Linden Street (north of Chestnut Street), New Street, a portion of Park Street, Garden Street, Bow Street, Winter Street, Church Street (north of Chestnut Street), and Laurel Street (west of Chestnut Street).

*Minor water service and sanitary sewer lateral connection work is planned on Main Street for Mary Cheney Library -- no major work on Main Street is included under this Project.

Schedule

Bids were opened for the project on December 15, 2023.  Construction is expected to begin in April 2024 and take approximately 7 months to complete.

Future Work

Project Limits were generally determined by the existing sanitary sewer main layout. This is the first phase of a multi-phase plan of work for the larger neighborhood area.  The remaining work area that is programmed to be completed under a future phase(s) is anticipated to include streets and parcels between Chestnut Street and Main Street, and between Chestnut Street and Park Street.
