Project will construct a 10' wide bituminous concrete cycle track on the west side of Main Street between Park Street and Center Street. This project is part of the overall effort to improve the Downtown Main Street corridor to make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists. The cycle track will connect into the cycle track south of Park Street that is proposed to be constructed in Phase 1 of the Downtown Improvements project, thus providing a continuous safe off street network along Main Street for cyclists. The project is funded through the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation's Community Connectivity Grant Program. Design, permitting and public outreach is anticipated to occur during the summer and fall of 2026 with construction expected to begin in the spring of 2027.
