Michael Borders has for over 50 years, been occupied creating murals, illustrations, formal and informal portraits and the production of original works of art for institutions and individuals. He has been influenced by artists including Henri Fantin-Latour, Diego Rivera, the Hudson River School artists, Frederick Church and Albert Bierstadt, but also contemporary artists like Aaron Douglas and David Driskell. Michael's murals can be found gracing the interiors and exteriors of buildings across a wide range of spaces: universities, churches, nightclubs, cafeterias, elementary schools, and private homes. His illustrations have appeared on record albums, CD covers, magazines, coloring books, and posters. Over the years, his portraits have captured the likenesses and spirits of ministers, judges, teachers, dancers, and people from all walks of life.
Join Michael Borders as he shares a brief overview of one of his murals and answers questions about the life, challenges, and inspirations of being a muralist.
