What if you could still have meaningful connections with your loved ones—even after an Alzheimer’s diagnosis? Alzheimer’s and dementia are notorious for stealing the memories and words from our loved ones. Author John Scully and his family made the difficult decision to place his mother in a memory care facility three years after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. He saw first-hand the agitation, discomfort, and loneliness the residents experience as they drifted in and out of the world we know, to one we—and they—cannot fully understand. Over time, he found the secret to connecting with those living with this confusing and frustrating disease. By observing staff and by trial and error, Scully learned to step into their world because he realized they could no longer step into ours. Once he did that, the conversations began to flow. Hear his story, some of the sweet, funny, and poignant conversations from the book, and find out what else he learned during these very special visits. What he learned through this journey may possibly help you or someone you love. Scully’s book, “Visited Mom Today”, will be available for purchase and signing after this event.
