In the coming weeks, a two-person Arcadis inspection team will conduct in-home service line inspections at select Manchester residences. Team members will carry identification badges and wear Arcadis-branded safety vests. If your property is selected for inspection, you will receive a door hanger notice in advance. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Hartford County effective through 8 PM EDT Tuesday August 9. In response, the Town of Manchester is activating its warm weather protocol and opening of cooling across the community. The town libraries, Senior Center, Weiss Center, and Police Dept. are open to the public for you to cool down.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
