What does the Town Attorney's Office do?
Examples of legal work performed by the Town Attorney’s Office include, but are not limited to, drafting ordinances and resolutions, defending the Town in lawsuits, protecting the interests of the Town in tax appeals, and approving contracts to which the Town is a party.
Can the Town Attorney represent me or provide me with legal advice?
No. The Town Attorney's Office represents the Town of Manchester government and cannot provide legal advice or legal representation to individuals or other entities.
Can the Town Attorney help me with a dispute involving my neighbor, landlord, employer, or another private party?
No. The Town Attorney's Office only represents the Town of Manchester and cannot assist with private legal matters or disputes between individuals or organizations.
Can the Town Attorney answer questions about Town ordinances?
Yes. We can advise Town departments, boards, commissions, bureaus and other officers in all other matters affecting the Town or relating to their official duties regarding Town ordinances. Residents seeking information about Town ordinances will be directed to the appropriate Town department. However, the Town Attorney's Office cannot provide legal advice regarding Town ordinances to private individuals.
