Charter Oak Park and The Oak
Charter Oak Park is one of the most used parks in Town and in 2017, the Town completed roughly $2 million of improvements to the park, including new playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, a revamped softball field, a "music garden,” and newly paved parking lot and walkways. Additional upgrades including new bathrooms near the playing courts, an additional 22 parking spaces, a new two-way entry, a resurfaced bicycle path, improved lighting, and video cameras to monitor the park.
The Oak
Traveling west along the East Coast Greenway, you’ll arrive at The Oak, a premier outdoor recreation destination designed for athletes, families, and community members of all ages. The complex features a full-length synthetic turf soccer field, providing a high-quality, all-weather playing surface ideal for practices, league play, and tournaments throughout the year. Adjacent to the field, the All-Wheels Park offers a dynamic space for riders of all skill levels, complete with a modern skate park featuring ramps, rails, and bowls, as well as a pump track designed for continuous riding on bikes, scooters, and skateboards. Together, these amenities create a vibrant hub for active recreation, skill development, and community connection.
OurParks Gear & Bike Shop
This onsite Gear and Bike Shop is located in the building formerly known as the Charter Oak Warming Hut. Open seasonally, from 5:30-8:30 PM summer weeknights, the shop stocks OurParks merchandise, including hoodies, hats, and shirts, as well as water, candy and recreational supplies. The Gear and Bike Shop serves as the headquarters for Charter Oak Park Yellow Bike and Scooter Program, the OurParks Ambassador Program. This site offers seasonal weekly drop-in activities which include life-size jenga/connect four, foosball, arts and crafts and Ping-Pong tables
Yellow Bike & Scooter Program
Charter Oak Park hosts a bike & scooter sharing program which is available seasonally, Monday - Friday, 5:30-8:30 PM to residents and non-residents. (Riders under 18 years of age must have a consent & waiver form completed by a parent or guardian once per season). Please have proper identification and safety equipment present to rent.
Charter Oak Park also hosts the Rotary Music Garden. This collaboration was created in partnership the Manchester Rotary Club. Through this partnership, the town was able to provide the space for the site, while the Rotary Club provided the funding, and together they have been able to bring a musical destination for their community.
Charter Oak Friday Events for All
The Park Ambassadors are back to working hard and look forward to serving you at Charter Oak Park or The Oak. We are excited to announce we are bringing back the Summer Event series which begins on June 26 and runs every Friday through August 21. All events and drop-in activities are no cost and sign up is not required.
