The Town of Manchester/Human Services Department has designed this page to help centralize some of the programs and services that are available for Veteran's.

Veteran's Benefits

VFW Post 2046, 608 E. Center Street is accepting calls for any Veteran's that may need assistance, please call 860-649-6741 for an appointment.

Veteran's Benefits Counselors, Neil Duggan, Service Officer/Chapter 17/DAV and Paul Scappaticci, Manchester DAV Commander will be available, by appointment only at the Weiss Center conference room. Please make an appointment by calling 860-647-3270 and select option #7. The Weiss Center is located at 479 Main Street in Manchester. Park in the rear of the building. Use the parking lot entrance. You will enter at the ground level and you can either use the elevator or stairs to get to the first floor and simple follow the signs for the Veteran's Counselor to the conference room. This is for all veterans, regardless of branch of service, combat or non-combat.

The Root Center

Located at 335 Broad Street and are open Monday through Friday 5:30am-4:00 pm, Saturday 6am-9am, closed on Sunday's. ph 860-643-3210, fax 860-6433211.

The Manchester Clinic has been serving clients in this community since 2008 and now serves over 600 clients each day.
At the Root Center, they are committed to serving the whole person and delivering comprehensive and compassionate mental health and substance use treatment for both adutls and adolescents.

Disabled American Veterans Transportation Network is a free, volunteer program that provides transportation from Manchester to VA Newington between 7am-1pm, Monday-Friday. The last ride back to Manchester leaves Newington at 1pm. The program also operates a shuttle between VA Newington and VA West Haven. A 5-day lead time is required when making reservations. The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Training

Veterans Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP) The Department of Veterans Affairs has launched the Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP) as part of its continued effort to support Veterans seeking retraining and economic opportunities in response to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The VRRAP was part of the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package, with aid targeted to assist individuals and businesses recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
