Raising of the Flag 2025
To be held on Monday, September 15, 2025. The kick off event will start at Manchester Town Hall at 3pm. Join us as we honor and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
The Manchester Latino Affairs Council proudly joins communities across the nation in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, observed annually from September 15 to October 15. This month-long observance honors the history, culture, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the African nation of Equatorial Guinea.
The celebration begins on Monday, September 15, 2025, with a Hispanic Heritage Month Flag Raising Ceremony at the intersection of Main Street and East Center Street at 3PM. This inspiring event will feature cultural performances, guest speakers, and community leaders coming together to honor the heritage and achievements of Hispanic and Latino communities. September 15 is especially significant as it marks the independence anniversaries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with Mexico, Chile, and Equatorial Guinea also celebrated during this month.
Festivities continue that evening with Salsa of Manchester at Frontera Grill – a night of flavor, dancing, and community in partnership with UR Community Cares. Attendees will enjoy authentic cuisine, live salsa music, and vibrant cultural connection. For information on participation in this event, please reach out to Michelle Puzzo at michellepuzzo@urcommunitycares.org.
The celebration continues with a Hispanic Heritage Month Community Celebration on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 110 Cedar Street/Leisure Labs from 11AM – 3PM. The event will include live music, traditional dance, food, vendors, art displays, and family-friendly activities that showcase the richness and diversity of Hispanic culture.
“Our Hispanic and Latino communities are an essential part of Manchester’s identity,” said Board of Director Jessee Muñiz-Poland. “From the flag raising on September 15 to the salsa night and the community-wide celebration on September 20, these events honor our heritage, unity, and the resilience that shapes our shared stories.”
Hispanic Heritage Month was first recognized as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson and expanded to a full month in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. Today, it serves as a national opportunity to reflect on the enduring contributions of Hispanic/Latinos people worldwide.
The Manchester Latino Affairs Council invites all residents to join the flag raising, and the month’s activities in a shared spirit of pride and cultural appreciation.
