All welcome to explore the historic railroad, now a rail trail, and hear commentary about the 2.5-mile railroad that connected the silk mills in the South End to the main railroad line in the North End. Opened in 1869, it carried both freight and passengers. Although passenger service ended in 1933, freight still traveled along the rails into the 1980s.
Extreme weather cancels. No dogs, please. Free. Explore the rail trail on your own with this self-guiding map.
