The Extreme Hot Weather Protocol will be activated at 11AM on Tuesday, July 14, and remain in effect through 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, this week. During this period, temperatures are expected to reach into the mid-to-high 90s, with the heat index surpassing 100 degrees at times.

The Town of Manchester mailed the tax bills for the October 1, 2025 Grand List on June 22, 2026. The first installment of taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2025 are due and payable on July 1, 2026. Failure to pay any tax that is due by August 3, 2026 will cause the tax to become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month, back to the original due date of July 1, 2026.
On Sunday, March 19, 2023 there will be a lecture offered at the Manchester Historical Society, 175 Pine Street, Manchester CT, entitled “The Cheney Story: From Farmers to World Renowned Textile Manufacturers”. The lecture will begin at 1:00 pm. The first part of the lecture, discussing the early Cheney family and their activities at the Cheney Homestead will be presented by Bettylou Sandy, Chairman of the Cheney Homestead who often appears at these events dressed as Electa Cheney.
The second part of the lecture will be presented by Manchester Historical Society President Dennis Gleeson and will highlight the activities of the Cheney Family as they move into the industrial age and begin to manufacture silk that is sought out around the world.
