The Extreme Hot Weather Protocol will be activated at 11AM on Tuesday, July 14, and remain in effect through 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, this week. During this period, temperatures are expected to reach into the mid-to-high 90s, with the heat index surpassing 100 degrees at times.

The Town of Manchester mailed the tax bills for the October 1, 2025 Grand List on June 22, 2026. The first installment of taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2025 are due and payable on July 1, 2026. Failure to pay any tax that is due by August 3, 2026 will cause the tax to become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month, back to the original due date of July 1, 2026.
“Irish culture”
On Sunday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m., the Manchester Historical Society will present a lecture by Mary Ann Handley: "Culture and Anarchy in Ireland -- and the Three Literary Giants Who Helped to Forge Modern Ireland," a lecture on Irish writers and their perspectives on the culture of Ireland and its people. Former State Senator Mary Ann Handley is a retired Manchester Community College history professor, In her talk, Mary Ann will establish a foundation for understanding the influence of James Joyce and of Nobel laureates W. B. Yeats and George Bernard Shaw. She'll touch on this year's 100th anniversary of the publication of James Joyce's "Ulysses," and on Manchester's large Irish population. At the History Center, 175 Pine Street. The public is invited. Parking for the lecture is available along Pleasant Street, off Forest Street (no on-street parking) as well as in a small lot next to the History Center. $5 for non-members, $3 for Society members, and free for children under age 16.
