Join us at the Manchester Historical Society, 175 Pine Street, Manchester CT on Sunday, March 5 from 1:00 - 4:00 as we dedicate the newest exhibit at the Cheney Homestead Museum, “Women of the Cheney Family.” MIT professor, Margery Resnick, will discuss early women’s college education and share her knowledge of Margaret Swan Cheney’s teacher, the first female graduate of MIT, Professor Ellen Swallow Richards (Class of 1873). Margaret Swan Cheney was born at the Cheney Homestead in 1855. Open/free to the public and donations to the Homestead are always appreciated.
Following the presentation visitors may go to the Cheney Homestead, 106 Hartford Road, Manchester, and view the new exhibit room dedicated to the women of the Cheney family who lived at the Homestead during its 238-year history. Refreshments will be served.
