The Town Attorney's office provides legal services for the various departments of the Town government. It cannot represent individuals in any legal proceeding.

The Town Attorney's office is located on the second floor of Town Hall, 41 Center Street and can be contacted at 860-647-3132 or by fax at 860-647-3134.

Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Tuesday 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The office is staffed by three attorneys with responsibilities as follows:

  • Ryan Barry, Town Attorney, administers the Town Attorney's office, attends the Board of Directors meetings and is appointed by the Board of Directors. He also handles property damage claims and liability claims against the Town.
  • John F. Sullivan, Assistant Town Attorney, handles planning and zoning matters, tax appeals and general litigation involving the Town.
  • Grace Richards, Administrative Staff Attorney and Assistant Town Attorney, is a full-time employee and provides legal services for the Town’s departments as well as serving as an Assistant Town Attorney.

The office also is staffed by an Executive Assistant.
