Bidwell street will be closed from Hartford Road to Ramey drive starting 9/22/2026, for 30 days to allow for sewer main installation. Detour signs have been installed to help residents navigate around closure area.Salters Pool Parking Lot will be closed starting 9/21/2026, for 6-8 weeks to allow reconstruction of the parking lot. Pond access will be maintained during construction.

In the coming weeks, a two-person Arcadis inspection team will conduct in-home service line inspections at select Manchester residences. Team members will carry identification badges and wear Arcadis-branded safety vests. If your property is selected for inspection, you will receive a door hanger notice in advance. Preservation Connecticut and Jane’s Walk, Inc., encourage cities and towns to host neighborhood walking tours where residents can meet and talk to each other about their experiences living in Manchester, or in their hometown. The free, citizen-led tours are inspired by Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), writer, urbanist, and activist who championed a community-based approach to city-building. The walks intend for people to tell stories about their communities, explore their cities, and connect with neighbors. Meet at 146 Hartford Road (former Fuss & O'Neill building), Manchester. About one hour; moderately paced half mile. Followed by a visit to the History Center. Rain or shine. Led by Susan Barlow, Town Historian, and Jessee Muñiz-Poland, elected member of the Town Board of Directors.
