Stop & Turn Around
  • When you come across water coming out the ground and running down the road, stop and turn around. Do not risk falling into a sink hole.
  • Even when on foot, black ice and construction activities can pose danger

  • Report the location to the Manchester Water & Sewer Department

Unseen Dangers

This video shows a water main break on East Eldridge St (Feb. 2, 2026). While the pavement may look intact, the ground underneath is compromised. The soil is being washed away with the flow of water surfacing from the water main break.

The flow of water creates sink holes.

These sinkholes can be located away from where the water is surfacing.

Never drive near or over pavement that appears sunken in or bulging.
