The Town of Manchester mailed the tax bills for the October 1, 2025 Grand List on June 22, 2026. The first installment of taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2025 are due and payable on July 1, 2026. Failure to pay any tax that is due by August 3, 2026 will cause the tax to become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month, back to the original due date of July 1, 2026.
The Extreme Hot Weather Protocol will be activated at 12:00PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, and continues through 6:00PM on Sunday, July 5, 2026. If you are at risk from the heat, call 860-645-5500 for assistance. Individuals who are unhoused and in need of assistance should contact 2-1-1 or MACC Charities. MACC Charities will be handing out water to those in need.
To allow our staff to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the Fourth of July, the Manchester Transfer Station and Landfill will be closed on Friday July 3 and Saturday July 4.Curbside Collection: All residential routes will run with no change to regularly scheduled service days.
Manchester continues a weekend of traditional holiday festivities Downtown that starts Thanksgiving Morning with the Manchester Road Race by sharing the joy of the season with our annual Community Tree Lighting on Saturday, November 29! The Saturday festivities start at 4:15pm at Silk City Coffee, 763 Main St for caroling and FREE hot cocoa with the jolly old Elf Santa Claus himself! Silk City Attendees will also be given a free commemorative ornament to bring home (first come, first served while supplies last)! At about 4:50pn Manchester Fire Department will pick Santa up for the short ride to Center Church while everyone else is invited to carol up the street to the tree! At about 5pm another round of caroling begins outside the church around the tree, while inside the church there will be free activities for the whole family, including hot cocoa, baked goods and treats and more! The mayor takes center stage at 5:35 or so for a holiday welcome, and we light the tree about 5:45! The festivities continue inside and on the church lawn until 6:30pm! The 2025 Community Tree Lighting in downtown Manchester is the tree lighting event to be at for all residents of Central Connecticut! The tree, donated and planted by Newcity Builders. So, plan to spend the afternoon downtown to do your holiday shopping, grab dinner, and enjoy this free event!
