In the coming weeks, a two-person Arcadis inspection team will conduct in-home service line inspections at select Manchester residences. Team members will carry identification badges and wear Arcadis-branded safety vests. If your property is selected for inspection, you will receive a door hanger notice in advance. History Walk in a Unique Neighborhood
The public is invited to a free tour of the Lakeview, a historic neighborhood in the Comstock Road-Arvine Place area off South Main Street, on Saturday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m., rain or shine. Stroll in this historic neighborhood and hear about the origins of the housing development, laid out in 1925, as an enclave of large suburban homes just north of the newly opened Manchester Country Club. The subdivision is remarkable for the size and variety of its houses, and for the mix of homes from the oldest in Manchester – 189 South Main Street – to newer construction fitted in. The one-mile walk and commentary will take about 1-1/4 hours. Architectural historian, Mary Dunne, and Town Historian Susan Barlow will lead the walk. Meet at the corner of Comstock Road and South Main Street. This is one of the 23 walks in 2023, celebrating Manchester’s 200th birthday.
