Hospice and Palliative care are types of health care that focus on the palliation of a terminally ill patient’s pain and symptoms and attending to their emotional and spiritual needs at the end of life, providing an alternative to therapies focused on life-prolonging measures that may be difficult, likely to cause more symptoms, or are not aligned with a person’s goals. The hope is to increase awareness and knowledge of hospice and palliative care and demystify misconceptions surrounding this program helping individuals understand its purpose and benefits. Join Kate Francis APRN, MSN, FNP and Holly Zambrello, RN, Community Liaison, as they discuss hospice and palliative care principles including pain and symptom management, communication, emotional support, and advanced care planning. They will also offer a range of resources including informational material, online tools, and support networks.
