Excessive high temperatures are predicted Tuesday, 7/15 through Friday, 7/18, this week. In addition to 90+ degree temperatures, very humid conditions may push the heat index up to at least 100 degrees each day. Residents are advised to please take proper precautions. Failure to pay any tax that is due by August 1, 2025 will cause the tax to become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month, back to the original due date of July 1, 2025. The Town of Manchester mailed the tax bills for the October 1, 2024 Grand List on June 20, 2025.

This month, welcoming genealogist Noreen Cullen, who will walk through some online websites, both free and paid, that can be used for genealogy research. “We can also talk about various ethnicities of interest to the group’s participants. Then we can discuss in more detail the use of siblings of your direct-line ancestors, to open up a path to go back another generation. Our plan is to project the websites onto a big screen, so we can walk through the steps together. You are welcome to bring an ancestor’s name and dates of birth and death, if known, so we can explore research tactics, as an example for the group. Finally, we can do some searches on the escheated funds your ancestors may have left behind.”
