The Town of Manchester, Manchester Public Schools, CT Green Bank, Greenskies and community members gathered on Friday 5/19 to commemorate the successful installation of solar panels at six (6) of Manchester's schools, including Waddell Elementary (pictured) and Manchester's Water Treatment Facility.

A huge thank you to town officials and staff, school administrators and staff, partners Connecticut Green Bank and Greenskies, and every local group and member of the Manchester community for their partnership, dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to creating positive change.

More than 5,200 solar panels have been installed at Verplanck Elementary School, Highland Park School, Manchester Regional Academy, Martin Elementary School, Waddell Elementary School, Manchester High School, and Manchester’s Water Treatment Facility.

Manchester participated in the Connecticut Green Bank’s Solar Municipal Assistance Program to identify opportunities, bring them to fruition and provide financing. The program, affectionately called Solar MAP, provided the support needed to embark on 7 simultaneous projects to accelerate adoption of clean energy and achieve energy savings.

The installation of these solar panels is not merely a symbolic gesture; it is a tangible commitment to safeguarding our planet for generations to come.
